MIKA SCHÜRGERS

Mika Schürgers is the Berlin-based designer behind Hiiunomme, a fashion label exploring the intersection of materiality, craftsmanship and contemporary form. Working primarily with natural materials, particularly leather and plant-based textiles, his practice is driven by a deep engagement with texture, surface and transformation.

Combining traditional techniques with experimental processes, Hiiunomme works with natural dyeing methods using Japanese tannins such as kakishibu and yasydama. The garments emphasize sensory experience, focusing on how materials feel, age and evolve while creating a strong tactile presence.

Rooted in a material-led approach to sustainability, Mika investigates innovative ways of transforming overlooked organic byproducts into wearable textiles. By merging historical references with modern construction techniques, Hiiunomme creates versatile garments defined by precision, movement and material depth.
