MARIEKE VAN LAAK

Marieke Van der Laak is a Berlin-born designer currently pursuing her BA at the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg (HAW). Her work is driven by an experimental approach to fashion, using garments as a space to explore form, structure and materiality through intuitive making processes.

Draping plays a central role within her practice, allowing silhouettes and constructions to emerge organically through direct interaction with fabric. Balancing innovation with craftsmanship and wearability, she aims to create pieces that feel both modern and timeless, forming the foundation of her evolving design language.

Beyond aesthetics, Marieke is particularly interested in the communicative power of clothing and fashion as a medium for social narratives. Her work translates abstract ideas into tangible forms, creating garments that invite reflection, dialogue and emotional connection.
