ALMA JØRGENSEN
Alma Jørgensen is a Berlin-based fashion student originally from Denmark whose work is deeply rooted in storytelling and character creation. She approaches each outfit as part of a larger narrative, allowing garments, materials and the body to evolve together throughout the design process.
Drawn to the performative qualities of fashion, Alma explores how clothing can transform identity through masking and styling elements such as hats, wigs and veils. Existing materials play a central role within her practice, as she is interested in the histories and emotional traces fabrics already carry. Through reusing and reshaping them, she allows the past to become embedded within new narratives.
Inspired by collecting, thrifting and the visual culture of Berlin’s streets, her work embraces strong patterns, vibrant colour palettes, irony and kitsch with a playful sensibility. Humour and visual immediacy remain essential to her design language, creating garments that communicate intuitively without relying on extensive explanation.
Her latest collection, “Leaver’s Tale,” was created using surplus lace sourced from French lace factories. Inspired by the transformation of the lace industry during the Napoleonic era through the invention of the Leavers loom, the collection intertwines material history with contemporary storytelling, allowing the narrative and the textile itself to become inseparable.
